Maria Carvalho

Bildbeschreibung

Maria Carvalho grew up in Porto/Portugal. After graduating from high school, she spent 2 years in London and then 1 year in Paris. While learning these languages, she gained important impressions of people and their habits. She lived in London with theater actors where she observed the transformation of emotions into expressivity .

Back in Portugal, Maria Carvalho realized that curiosity had not yet been calmed. The time was ideal to continue observing life

This time she moved to Berlin/Germany. Chance wanted her to stay for a long time. Here she had the most important experience of her life. The birth of her son. This changed the course of events and she stayed in Germany.

One day she felt a longing for Portugal. Maria Carvalho rummaged through her memories and experiences and found an alternative way to connect Berlin with Portugal. When singing fado, she finds herself in a familiar space and in close relationship with the musicians she gives the German audience a part of Portuguese feeling. Maria Carvalho closes her eyes to enjoy the words and the melodies of the fado and through her head flow the images that she passes on with her voice. In 2002 Maria Carvalho, António de Brito and Daniel Pircher founded the Trio Fado. In 2005 they released their first CD entitled "Com que voz".
